When it comes to interior design, Boshen Zhou is a name that resonates with innovation and artistry. His recent project, Jinxiu Mansion, a sales office in Huizhou, is a testament to his unique design approach. The project, which spans 1100 square meters, is a blend of modern installation art and local culture, resulting in a visually and spiritually resonant space.
Zhou's design philosophy is deeply rooted in the concept of "less is more". With Jinxiu Mansion, he has managed to express the functions and features of different regions within the space artistically and vividly, while maintaining a high degree of uniformity in the overall style. His return to the original intention of architectural aesthetics is evident in the minimalist yet impactful design elements.
The design process involved the use of modern materials like glass fiber reinforced plastics, combined with natural elements like stone. The artwork in the staircase, for instance, represents a "rock in deep sea", bringing the building closer to nature. The use of these materials not only adds to the aesthetic appeal of the space but also enhances its functionality.
The interaction design of Jinxiu Mansion is another aspect worth noting. In the sand table area, a red bulb lamp at the entrance breaks the monotony of the stone, creating a rich rhythm and cadence in the space. The wave-like artistic installation, made from electroplated acrylic lines, shines under the sunlight, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal.
Despite the design challenges, Zhou managed to create a reception hall that is elegant and fresh, avoiding excessive decorations and instead using simple materials to create a sense of depth. The soft accessories are based on the quintessence of space design, presenting an elegant scene in a modern, free-flowing way.
Jinxiu Mansion is a testament to Zhou's ability to combine form and function in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing manner. His design approach, which prioritizes simplicity and elegance, has earned him the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is a recognition of his outstanding expertise and innovation in interior design.
